Seeking qualified professionals to consider for their Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent to join our team. This position will report to the Maintenance & Reliability Leader. The Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the safety and direction of the mechanical maintenance teams servicing the facility. This position manages all mechanical maintenance activities in the mill. The role will directly supervise the shift maintenance across 4 shifts. This includes 3 direct reports (Mechanical Supervisors on day shift and up to 50-60 hourly mechanical craftsmen).

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Leading maintenance teams to work injury-free/incident free in a manufacturing environment consistent with management philosophy and framework
  • Ensure safety excellence through leading by example, promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implementing the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved
  • Supervising and coordinating maintenance efforts that drive improvement in all associated work processes affecting EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs
  • Responsible for the performance and development of area maintenance team by Demonstrating strong leadership skills and habits of “best practice”
  • Working as part of a team to support the site effort to improve the maintenance work processes
  • Facilitating team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, building employee commitment and ownership and holding employees accountable
  • Monitoring the quality of craft work and provide direction to crew members to maximize efficiency
  • Providing leadership in implementing and or maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs and working with other managers to ensure proper maintenance scheduling
  • Working with the facility operations group to increase reliability while improving plant performance
  • Providing leadership and direction to the maintenance department responsible for repair as well as maintenance of machines, tools, and equipment and in manufacturing operations
  • Providing technical support for efficient troubleshooting and or problem-solving activities to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime
  • Ensuring that follow-up RCA’s are completed to identify and resolve recurring downtime and or inefficient operational issues
  • Effectively communicating results and action plans to appropriate employees and managers
  • Collaborating directly with human resources to ensure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved
  • Involvement in contractor management

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Five years or more of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor/Leader in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment
  • One year or more of experience leading a team
  • Experience using the following Microsoft Office Software: Excel, Outlook, Word & PowerPoint
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience using Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Ability to climb stairs & ladders, work around dust/chemicals/other substances, and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with Indus Passport / Asset Suite
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with implementation of precision maintenance
  • Leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing operation with focus on Mechanical and Reliability Maintenance
  • Experience planning, leading, and executing major work outages
  • Experience in a Pulp & Paper manufacturing or other chemical processing operations
  • Experience with industrial boilers and pulp recovery operations
  • Experience using MS Project (creating a project plan, adding tasks, resources, and milestones)
  • Experience with spend plan management and project justification
