Job Summary:

This position is responsible for leading the development of the reporting systems for project controls assignments. It performs complex aspects of individual project estimating, scheduling, change documentation and cost control while reporting up to program or portfolio level as well as trains and teaches other members of PC organization aspects of projects controls. The Project Planner / Scheduler Senior is a critical position as the expert and lead of multiple project controls core competency areas: Scheduling, Estimating, Cost Engineering. This position will be a leader for the PC team as well as a team member of multiple project or program teams. This position supports Project Managers and Project Directors on projects and programs of varying size and complexity.  The Project Planner / Scheduler Senior will be expected to lead and direct the set up and reviews of the project controls status (cost, contract, WBS, schedule, resource, etc.).  This position is critical to the mentoring of junior Planner / Scheduler positions.

 

Using prescribed methods and tools, the position is responsible for performing primary aspects of project control assignments. The position is considered a technical, SME, support position and requires college level reasoning via formal education or work experience. It requires understanding and application of complex project controls principles. This position must be expert with various computer applications with analytics that relate to schedule, cost, and risk. This position requires expertise / mastery with regards to the use, understanding and application of project controls principles and associated project controls scheduling software tools.

 

Duties & Responsibilities (including by not limited to):

Provide leadership in development and generation of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly project controls scheduling reports.  Responsible for gathering, verifying, validating, and analyzing data in support of project controls schedule reporting.  Responsible for distributing and archiving project controls reports as appropriate.

Able to use drawings and specifications in the establishment of project baseline data.

Evaluates workforce, labor hour, and labor schedule actualized data against budgeted data and prepare variance analysis.

Expertise in the development of CPM schedule logic for engineering, procurement, and construction.

Assists in the development and maintenance of WBS and help ensure that project coding is effectively used for all applications.

Expert in the use of Earned-Value methodologies and tools to provide an objective assessment of project cost, schedule, and overall work performance.

In addition, provide presentation quality report and be available to present if needed to project team/management team.

 

Track and manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and cost baseline.  Identify, assess, gain approval for, and distribute change requests, change notices and/or change orders in a manner compliant with internal governance standards and terms and conditions of relevant contracts (as appropriate). Lead team through audit reviews and reporting.

 

Lead the scheduling and carrying out benchmarking and self-assessment initiatives relevant to project controls and the types of projects typically managed by the project controls group.  Identify and communicate improvement opportunities, adoption of best practices and counter measures to address gaps in performance.

 

Leads development and maintenance of WBS, project schedules, cost estimates, track, and trend cash flow reports, change control documentation (scope, cost, or schedule) and/or any reports associated with project controls. Tracks and reports project status performs variance, earned value and critical path analyses at a level appropriate for the project.

 

Work as/with Estimator(s) to create or create project cost estimate to establish effective cost controls management.  Assure that project estimate includes all necessary raw materials, resource / labor rates, manufactured materials / equipment as well as current industry data relative to project scope.  Manage the estimate according to YII Procedures and review cycle.

 

The Project Planner / Scheduler Senior is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with customers, supports the resolution of issues, and completes assignments (proposals, project tasks, reports, etc.) within negotiated budgets and schedules.

Qualifications:

10+ years field experience in the commercial construction industry

Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred)

PMI or PMP certification is a plus

AACE certification is a plus

Expertise/Mastery with project management & project controls concepts, computer applications, and analytics.

Budget management experience

Proficiency with the following

MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, etc.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Primavera (P6) - required

Blueprint reading – ability to interpret and build accordingly.

Procore (preferred)

Bluebeam Revu (preferred)

Smartsheet (preferred)

Taking and uploading digital photographs

Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

OHSA 10 or 30 Certification
